Nothing is installed on the Switch
ZLocator never touches the console. Your phone or tablet looks at the screen the same way another person in the room could — nothing to sideload, patch or configure.
Docked or handheld, both work
Docked is easiest: prop the tablet where it sees the TV and leave it. Handheld works too, as long as the phone is on a stand where it can see the Switch screen clearly and neither device moves after you lock the frame.
Console has no map mods — this is the gap
On PC some servers run map mods that show your position. On Switch 2 there is no such option. A camera pointed at the screen is the only way to get a live position, which is exactly what this does.
Crossplay changes nothing
ZLocator only reads the picture. It does not care which platform the server is hosted on or who else is playing.
How it works
Your phone watches the screen, and the map follows you.
One frame roughly every three seconds is cropped to the area you locked, matched against reference views captured by walking the terrain, and turned into a marker on the map — with the nearest town named and the direction you are facing. The full explanation is on the front page.

Does DayZ have a map on Switch 2?
Not in the game. You can find a paper map in-game, but it does not show your position. ZLocator runs on a second device and marks where you are on the Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal map.
Do I need to install anything on the Switch 2?
No. Nothing is installed, nothing is modified, and the console never communicates with us. The app looks at the screen through your phone's camera.
Does it work in handheld mode?
Yes, if the phone sits in a stand where it can see the Switch screen clearly. Both devices need to stay put after the frame is locked.
