A DayZ map for PC.
PC is the one platform with alternatives — and they all come with a condition. Map mods only work on servers that run them, and official servers do not.
Point a phone or tablet at the screen you play on. Nothing is installed on the console or the PC, and no server mod is needed.
What PC players need to know.
Vanilla and official servers have nothing
This is where most PC players actually play, and there the situation is identical to console: no position, no overlay, no mod.
Nothing runs on the gaming PC
No overlay, no injected process, no capture software. The app is on your phone and it only looks at the screen — which is also why it cannot be mistaken for something that touches the game.
Any monitor or TV works
Ultrawide, second display, a TV across the room — as long as the camera sees the picture, the frame can be locked.
Server rules are yours to check
Whether a third-party tool is allowed is between you and the server you play on. ZLocator does not modify, hook or read the game, but the rule is still the server's to make.
Your phone watches the screen, and the map follows you.
One frame roughly every three seconds is cropped to the area you locked, matched against reference views captured by walking the terrain, and turned into a marker on the map — with the nearest town named and the direction you are facing. The full explanation is on the front page.

Straight answers.
Does DayZ have a map on PC?
Only the in-game paper map, which does not show your position. Some modded servers add a map with a position marker; official and vanilla servers do not.
Is this a mod or an overlay?
Neither. Nothing is installed on the PC and nothing touches the game. Your phone's camera looks at the screen.
Do I need a capture card or second monitor?
No. A phone or tablet in a stand pointed at the screen you already play on is the whole setup.
