What the Chernarus map is like to be lost on.
The coast runs east to west along the south
Almost every fresh spawn starts here. A shoreline in frame narrows the match down immediately, which is why the coast is where ZLocator locks on fastest.
The north-west airfield and Tisy sit high and open
Open ground with distinctive structures — strong recognition, and the reason military runs are where players most want a position they can trust.
The centre is forest and hills
Deep forest is the hard case for any visual match. Walk a road, catch a treeline or read a sign and the marker settles.
Cyrillic road signs everywhere
Chernarus signs carry town names and distances. They are read separately from the terrain match, and a legible one can correct a weak fix outright.
How it works
Your phone watches the screen, and the map follows you.
One frame roughly every three seconds is cropped to the area you locked, matched against reference views captured by walking the terrain, and turned into a marker on the map — with the nearest town named and the direction you are facing. The full explanation is on the front page.

Is there a Chernarus map in DayZ?
